University Committee on Evaluation of Teaching
The University Committee on Evaluation of Teaching was formed in March of 2007, and charged with conducting a study of the processes currently in place to evaluate teaching.  The committee is focusing initially on the component involving student perceptions, including instruments, uses of student data for both improvement and personnel decisions, and policies that currently guide university practice.  A preliminary report including recommendations is expected by January 2008.

The committee aims to make its work as transparent as possible.  Please click here to access details of the committee’s work and a variety of resources detailing research and best practice in this area.

CEUT Panel on the Teaching Climate at Virginia Tech
In Fall 2006, CEUT invited a panel of senior faculty to study the climate for teaching at Virginia Tech, and to report what they learn in the context of some historical and national research findings. That panel met regularly last year and continues its meetings this year. We will share the panel’s work with the academic community. We will also review the panel’s report with an eye to future programming opportunities. If you have any questions, resources, or experiences that you wish to share with the panel, contact Nancy at npolk@vt.edu or 231-8553.
